12th APRU Doctoral Students Conference
  Abstracts Submission Guidelines

    1.   Abstracts and corresponding full papers should be submitted in English using the online system, EasyChair at http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=aprudsc12 . An instruction of how to use EasyChair will be posted on our website at http://apru.daf.tsinghua.edu.cn/Papers.htm.

    2.   There will be two rounds of abstracts submission. The deadline of the first round is January 31. The second round is from February 1 to March 1. Abstracts submitted during the first round will be given priority over those submitted during the second round.

    3.   Each abstract should contain a description of the paper in 300-500 words. All abstracts must contain the following information: title, author(s)¡¯s full name(s), institutional affiliation, nationality, research field and at most 5 keywords. The keywords are to provide information on the fields and/or issues covered by the paper, thus enabling the THU Organizing Committee to allocate papers to each session accordingly;

    4.   All abstract submissions must be formatted correctly. Abstracts that do not meet the guidelines will NOT be accepted. The official format and guidelines can be found at http://apru.daf.tsinghua.edu.cn/Papers.htm.

    5.   The person presenting the paper must be a doctoral student at an APRU member university by the time of abstract submission;
    Note: Approximately five doctoral students studying at non-APRU universities will also be invited to present their papers at the DSC in order to widen the scope of the conference. In this case, the papers should have connection to the Pacific Rim region, and the invited students must provide letters of recommendation issued by their institutes.

    6.   In the case of multiple authors, the name of the person who will present the paper at the DSC should be clearly indicated in the abstract. The submitting author is expected to ensure that the presentation of the paper is approved by his or her institute and co-authors;

    7.   If the total number of submissions in the two rounds exceeds 130, the THU Organizing Committee reserves the right to screen abstracts primarily on the basis of their quality. The balance in presentations across countries, universities, and disciplines will also be taken into consideration. Abstracts submitted in the first round will also be given priority;

    8.   It should be noted that students¡¯ participation in the 12th APRU DSC depends entirely on whether their abstracts are accepted by the THU Organizing Committee. Once the abstract is accepted, the submitting author must agree that the corresponding paper will be presented at the DSC or forfeit the right to join DSC by notifying the committee within the two weeks of receiving the notification of acceptance;

    9.   THU Organizing Committee will send e-mail notifications regarding the acceptance or rejection of the abstracts to the submitting authors by April 23, 2011. If the abstract is accepted, the notification will include the date and time of the session and presentation. Upon receiving the notification of acceptance, the participant must submit the full paper at http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=aprudsc12 no later than June 4, 2011;

    10.  If you have any questions regarding the submission of abstracts, please email the THU Organizing Committee at apru@mail.tsinghua.edu.cn.
